More commercial real estate properties could close

Another key indicator of economic health is the commercial real estate and the news there is not encouraging either.

A report released late Thursday night by the Congressional Oversight Panel shows widespread defaults in commercial mortgages are likely.

If that happens, offices and stores could close -- further hiking the unemployment rate.

Foreclosures on apartment buildings could also rise, pushing families out of their homes.

And all of this could make banks even more reluctant to lend money.
