CHP arrests two following high-speed chase

OAKLAND, CA

At about 3:15 a.m., a CHP officer stopped a black Chevy Tahoe on Highway 580 near the Coolidge Avenue off-ramp for allegedly speeding.

As the officer was approaching the Tahoe, the driver sped away, re-entered Highway 580 and headed west traveling at about 120 mph, CHP Officer Javier Rocha said.

The driver exited at Lakeshore Avenue and went toward Grand Avenue.

The CHP officers had to slow down to clear the intersections and lost sight of the Chevy, according to Rocha. As they rounded a curve they saw the Tahoe on its roof. It had crashed into a parked, unoccupied Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District bus. No injuries were reported.

Four men and one woman left the Chevy. One of the men and the woman were taken into custody and three others are outstanding, Rocha said.
