Spring working up to be bad allergy season

Health officials have some bad news for seasonal allergy suffers -- this spring is supposed to be the worst allergy season in years.

Allergy experts say the heaviest winter rain in three years has given trees what they need to produce lots of pollen. And, according to ABC7 News media partner the San Jose Mercury News, a San Jose allergist says Santa Clara has the highest grass pollen count in the world.

He says because it rains, but rarely snows, plants bloom earlier in Northern California than the East Coast.

South Bay clinics are already seeing crowded waiting rooms.
