Suspicious package disrupts traffic in Union Square

Police have determined that a suspicious package discovered in San Francisco's Union Square this afternoon is harmless.

The discovery was reported just after 12:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Geary Street, San Francisco police Officer Boaz Mariles said.

The bomb squad responded, prompting the closure of Geary Street between Post and Powell streets while the package was investigated.

No injuries were reported.
