Police are asking the public to help identify two people suspected in the fatal shooting of a Richmond man at the Great Mall of the Bay Area in Milpitas last October.

The shooting happened at about 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 16, 2009. Milpitas police arrived to find the victim, 34-year-old Michael Anthony Davis, shot in the mall's east parking garage, according to police.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses said they saw a full-size black sport utility vehicle that appeared to have two male occupants leaving the parking area around the time of the shooting, police said.

During the investigation, detectives learned the two suspects may have visited a store at the mall. Detectives reviewed the store's surveillance video, which had captured images of them.

Police have not said which store provided the footage.

Investigators also obtained images of the suspects' vehicle, which may have gunshot damage to its body, police said.

Information developed during the investigation indicated the suspects may frequent or reside in the Salinas area.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call Sgt. David Ostrander at (408) 586-2412 or the Crime Stoppers tip line at (408) 947-7867. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call (408) 586-2500.
