Free concert honoring slain Castro Valley girl

CASTRO VALLEY, CA

The band, choir and orchestra students have been studying through the Jenny Lin Summer Music Program, which puts on the annual concert to honor the 14-year-old girl who was murdered on May 27, 1994 at her home in unincorporated Alameda County.

Since Jenny's death, the foundation bearing her name has been dedicated to improving the safety and well being of the community, through the summer music program; scholarships for young musicians; safety fairs and workshops; and the ongoing investigation of her murder.

Each year during June and July, the foundation offers six weeks of free practice sessions to music students, giving the youth the opportunity to hone their music skills and share the fruits of their labor with the public.

The concert is scheduled to commence at 7 p.m. at the Redwood Chapel Community Church located at 19300 Redwood Rd. in Castro Valley. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the public, which is free to the general public.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Alameda County Sheriff's Office at (510) 667-7721 or the foundation's information hotline at (877) JENNY-LIN, or (877) 536-6954. A $100,000 reward is available for anyone with information leading to the lawful conviction of Jenny's murderer.
