Weather service issues fire watch for Bay Area hills

Temperatures are expected to reach the lower 80s on the coast and upper 80s inland by Monday afternoon, according to National Weather Service forecasts, and evening winds are predicted to be 15 mph to 30 mph in the East Bay Hills, Napa County hills and other foothill regions above 1500 feet, where gusts are predicted to possibly reach up to 40 mph.

The combination of warm temperatures, low humidity, strong overnight gusts and dry hills could lead to increased fire activity across the region, according to the weather service.

The fire weather watch is scheduled to go into effect at around 6 p.m. Monday and will last until Wednesday morning.
