Marin County sheriffs won't enforce SmartMeter ban

MARIN COUNTY, Calif.

The board voted last week in favor of a one year moratorium on the devices. The Marin Independent Journal reports the sheriff has since been swamped by requests from residents to block PG&E from installing new meters on their property.

Two women were arrested Tuesday, while trying to prevent SmartMeters from being installed in Rohnert Park.

Sheriff Bob Doyle says the SmartMeters are regulated by the state PUC, so he cannot enforce the county's ban.
