Bill would set limits to open of crab season

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the bill would set limits on the number of crab pots and regulate the season opening free-for-all at sea as fishermen aim for prime crab pot positions off the Northern California coast. The measure is supported by local fishermen.

Small boat operators have found themselves at a disadvantage with commercial crab fishermen from Oregon and Washington, who already have trap limits in their state.
