Officials deny mistreating Iraq War vet

OAKLAND, Calif.

Thirty-two-year-old Kayvan Sabeghi was arrested early last Thursday morning after police moved in to break up a large Occupy demonstration. His family says he was denied medical care in jail.

But the sheriff's office denies that and says it can prove it. It released four videos from inside Alameda's North County Jail. They say the video shows Sabeghi receiving medical care while in custody.

"The issue that I have with it is you got people that are making claims that don't know what they're talking about. It's untrue," said Alameda County Sheriff's Spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson. "He was seen by medical staff. He was helped by deputies, and ultimately, he was transported to the hospital by an ambulance that we called for him."

Sabeghi's family says they can't comment until they see the video. He remains hospitalized and in stable condition with a ruptured spleen.
