East Bay SPCA offers cash reward for bird killers

CONCORD, Calif.

Police found seven dead birds, and another suffering from gunshot wounds, the morning of Dec. 3 after receiving reports that multiple water birds had been shot and killed.

Now, the East Bay SPCA chapter is hoping the cash reward will help bring the shooters to justice.

"We are deeply concerned that someone is shooting these birds," East Bay SPCA Executive Director Allison Lindquist said in a statement. "This cruel and illegal behavior must be stopped. People walk their dogs around the pond in Newhall Park at night. Someone could get seriously hurt," Lindquist said.

The shooting came just three weeks after eight ducks and geese were found dead -- possibly due to gunfire -- at Willow Pass Park in Concord, according to the East Bay SPCA.
