Two brutal sexual assaults in San Francisco's Mission District have residents calling for a special safety meeting on Wednesday night. They're pushing for better lighting in their neighborhood.

A surveillance image shows the man suspected of robbing and raping a woman last Thursday on 24th Street at Fair Oaks. It happened around 6:30 a.m.

There was another attack on 24th Street last month. There are similarities in the two cases.

The community meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church at Guerrero and 23rd streets.

The police say, in these cases both victims were attacked by a suspect identified as a black male, mid 30's, 5'9" - 6'0", medium build last seen wearing a black hoodie, and dark pants.

San Francisco Police Special Victims Unit is requesting the public's assistance in identifying the sexual assault person of interest. Witnesses or persons with information are asked to call the anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or "Text-a-Tip" at TIP411 from their cell phones. Please include "SFPD' in the beginning of the text message.
