Matchmaking site for dogs?

PuppyMatch.com is expanding its service from a site connecting owners looking to breed their pets to one that arranges puppy playdates. San Francisco transplant Anthony McGhee used it to find friends for his dog, Bandit.

The site's founder, Michael Chiang, says the social benefits aren't for the pups alone.

"Dogs are a great icebreaker, and using a website like ours you find new relationships, new friends, so definitely the human aspect of it is very strong," says Chiang.

Matches are made by neighborhood, breed and age. Some pet owners expressed the same human concerns about online matchmaking -- worried about getting together with a dog they don't know.

So far the site is limited to New York City, but other cities are being eyed for possible dog-meet-dog encounters.
