Investigators say 43-year-old Michael Romano was struck around 11 p.m. Wednesday after he shoved his 5-year-old son to safety on the heavily traveled Roosevelt Boulevard. The driver fled the scene but was stopped a few blocks away after an off-duty police officer dialed 911.
Police say 22-year-old Roderick Williams is charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and related offenses. It could not immediately be determined if he had a lawyer.
