A report says forget what your mother told you about drinking cranberry juice to cure a bladder or kidney infections.

A Cochrane Review of more than 4,400 people finds the benefits of drinking cranberry juice to prevent such infections are very small.

Cranberries have been thought to prevent urinary tract infections by keeping bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder.

However, researchers say women would need to drink two glasses a day for long periods to prevent even one infection.
