Man charged in connection with fatal shooting

OAKLAND, Calif.

Lamar Eric Webster, 23, is charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder, and will return to court next Wednesday to be assigned an attorney and possibly enter a plea.

The shooting occurred in the 3400 block of West Street at about 4:15 p.m. Friday. The man killed has been identified as 21-year-old Eddiebo Rodriguez, of Oakland.

Rodriguez was one of four people slain in separate incidents in Oakland in a brutal six-hour period on Friday afternoon and evening. Oakland police haven't announced any arrests in Friday's other three homicides.

Webster is charged with murder for the death of Rodriguez and two counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting and wounding victims Curran Warren and Omari Edwards.

Rodriguez also is charged with discharging a firearm causing death, for the slaying of Rodriguez, which would add 25 years to his state prison term if he is convicted.

In addition, Webster is charged with shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and committing his alleged offenses while out on bail in another case.

Webster is being held without bail at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
