Sleeping woman injured when shots fired into home

HAYWARD

The 24-year-old woman was shot in the head and neck while she was sleeping at a residence in the 500 block of Smalley Avenue, Sgt. Eric Krimm said.

Multiple bullets came through a front window around 12:30 a.m., he said.

The woman was rushed to a hospital to be treated for the gunshot wounds. She was listed in stable condition this morning and is expected to survive, Krimm said.

The woman's boyfriend, who was also in the home at the time, was unhurt.

Krimm said the shooting does not appear to have been a random act, but there are no clues to indicate a motive or a suspect.
