Father charged in crash that killed daughters

PALO ALTO, Calif.

The San Jose Mercury News reports prosecutors have filed vehicular manslaughter charges against 48-year-old Arvind Tandel. Tandel was driving on Highway 101 in Palo Alto last November when he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his SUV. His two daughters were ejected and died.

Tandel also hit a CHP officer who suffered serious injuries. Investigators say Tandel drove, despite getting just three hours of sleep in the previous 24 hours.
