Hwy 12 in Santa Rosa reopens after hit-and-run crash

SANTA ROSA, Calif.

Authorities are attempting to locate a driver who fled the scene of the crash near the intersection of Brush Creek Road and state Highway 12, which sent another driver to the hospital and closed the roadway, police said.

Police said the two-car collision was reported around 6 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two cars with major damage.

The driver and only occupant of one car suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, while the driver of the other car fled on foot.

The crash also downed power poles and lines, which blocked the roadway and caused a brief power outage in the surrounding area, according to police.

Due to the injuries suffered by the driver who was hospitalized, the incident is being investigated as a felony hit-and-run case, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to call Santa Rosa police Officer Dan Hackett at (707) 543-3636
