Palo Alto native becomes youngest man in the world to ski to South Pole

Parker Liautaud and his expedition partner reached their destination on Christmas Eve and set a new speed record in the process.

It took both Yale students 18 days, 4 hours and 43 minutes to make the nearly 400-mile trek.

They set out on Dec. 6 to study climate change and walked from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole with temperatures at points dipping 89-degrees below zero.

When asked what he wanted to eat when he gets home, Parker answered simply -- pizza.
