Oakland officials are bracing for a New Year's Eve protest.

Occupy Oakland is planning what the city calls an unpermitted demonstration starting at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The protest is set to involve a march from Frank Ogawa Plaza to the North County Jail.

Occupy's website is asking protesters to bring fireworks, which are illegal. The protest is a show of solidarity with prisoners around the globe.
