ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) -- If you ever questioned the concept of this nation as a melting pot for people and ideas, look no further than Alameda.

Across the nation, communities held Fourth of July parades. Some small. some large and in Alameda, we had one of the biggest with 170 floats, 2,500 participants and 20,000 people watching.
