Ushers help make Warriors fan experience a good one

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The Warriors' hard fought battle in Game 2 kept fans on the edge of their seats, but not everyone gets to sit around during the games. ABC7 News took a look at those cheering on their team while working.

With Thursday night's close game, you could feel the extra energy from people celebrating as they walked out of the arena, but those folks are only part of the Dub Nation.

Some fans find comfort in coming to the same bartender and ordering the same drink while the Warriors are on a winning streak.

Bartender Danielle Downey has worked at Oracle Arena for more than 15 years. She said, "I've been waiting a really long time for this. Like, I was telling him, I need a championship."

She wants the Warriors to bring it home for the Dub Nation family -- the fans and the staff.

"After being in the same seats for so long, you get to know the ushers and give them high fives when you see them," Warriors season ticket holder James Hatley said.

Joyce Ford has been an usher for 26 years and counting. She is like the arena mom. She'll make sure you're dressed right -- in gold and blue, of course -- help you find your seats and carries a friendly smile as she welcomes you to the game.

"You get to know everybody and it's more like a home. Everybody is family out here and that's what it's all about," Ford said.

Oracle is a home with a lot of seats, packed with the "family" behind the Warriors.

"I believe in the Warriors... strength in numbers," Ford said.
