Liz Biro | ABC7 KGO News Team
I truly believe the best part of journalism is becoming part of a community, understanding its people, what matters to them, and how to show up for them. That's what drew me to news, and it's what still drives me every day as the Morning Breaking News Anchor at ABC7.
I love waking up with viewers each morning, helping them start the day informed, prepared, and hopefully smiling before they head out the door.

Before joining ABC7, I spent four years at WINK News in Fort Myers, Florida, where I anchored weekday and weekend morning newscasts and reported on some of the biggest stories impacting Southwest Florida. Just weeks into my first job, Hurricane Ian devastated the region. Covering the storm, the heartbreak, and the long road to recovery alongside the community shaped me as both a journalist and a person.

During my time at WINK, I became the station's Environmental Reporter, helping lead coverage in an area where the health of the land, water, and wildlife directly impacts daily life. I also earned a National Emmy for breaking news coverage of the plane crash on I-75 and was later nominated for a regional Emmy for my continued investigation into the sheriff's department.

My passion for journalism started early. Growing up in Orlando, I toured a television station in second grade and never forgot the excitement of the newsroom. In high school, a TV production class and a great teacher turned that curiosity into a calling. At the University of Florida, I continued chasing that dream at WUFT News, where I worked in radio before moving into reporting, producing, and anchoring. While there, I earned a national Murrow Award for coverage of Hurricane Ida in Houma, Louisiana. Now in the Bay Area, I already feel right at home and am thrilled to be part of this incredible community.

When I'm not working, you can usually find me out on a hike, trying a new restaurant, or ending the night with dinner and Jeopardy. And always, Go Gators!
