Contra Costa County supervisors have decided against allowing the state to build a re-entry prison facility in the county.

Two weeks ago, the supervisors voted unanimously to consider five potential sites for a 500 bed facility, where inmates would receive career counseling, housing assistance, and other services before their release. Under the plan, the county would have been eligible for state funding to expand county jails.
