Numerous agencies, including the Monterey County Sheriff's Office and Cal Fire, assisted with the rescue of an exhausted kayaker off of Point Lobos State Park today.

Around 12:45 p.m., a man reported he had lost contact with his wife while they were kayaking and diving at Whaler's Cove, the sheriff's office said.

A helicopter searched the surface of the water for about two minutes before locating the woman in the outer middle area of the cove, about 200 yards from shore, according to the sheriff's office.

Cal Fire sent a rescue boat to the location and was able to lift the woman onboard and transport her to shore. She was exhausted but otherwise uninjured, they reported.
