BART to give free coffee on Earth Day

Beginning at 6 a.m., volunteers will hand out coupons at six BART stations for a free cup of Tully's Coffee because, according to a BART spokeswoman Luna Salaver, people who ride BART instead of drive to work keep tons of greenhouse gas emissions from entering into the atmosphere every day.

Travelers can pick up their coupons at the Downtown Berkeley, Oakland City Center/12th Street, Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell Street and Civic Center stations.

In addition to the free cup of coffee, commuters can buy one half-pound of coffee beans and get another half for free during the joint $2 million "Rider Thank You" giveaway.
