PETALUMA, CA --
The Bay Area is involved in what has been described by some Belarus officials as an international incident which involves the kidnapping of one of the 25 Belarus children who came to Petaluma as exchange students and has decided to extend her visit. Her discussion, and that of her host family, may end the 17-year-old-program that brings more than 1400 children to the U.S. every year. The children were supposed to leave last Tuesday. Because of that one child's decision to stay in the U.S., they delayed the departure for all students until Sunday.
