Study: breast cancer survivors face relapse

HOUSTON

Doctors at the University Of Houston Cancer Center studied more than 2,800 women treated for breast cancer.

Those treated with surgery, radiation and either chemotherapy and hormone treatments, still had a one in five chance of relapse in the 10 years after completing treatment.

Women who had larger, more advanced tumors had the greatest risk of relapse.

Researchers say the study raises the possibility some women could benefit from even longer treatments.
