Neighbors in the gated community say the red-headed acorn woodpeckers are damaging their homes.
After a series of failed attempts to scare off the birds, homeowners got permission to shoot as many as 50 of them.
But the plan has been postponed for various reasons and now the Audubon Society has formed a task force to revisit the problem with homeowners.
A homeowners' representative told abc7, there has been a meeting to discuss several other options, but the proposed shooting of the birds may still be necessary.
