Late on Christmas day 2007, the tiger Tatiana attacked three young men, killing one of them, 17-year old Carlos Sousa Jr. of San Jose and injuring the other two.
This week, the Sousa family sued the zoo for wrongful death, claiming the tiger enclosure was inadequate.
Since then, the zoo has redesigned the big cat exhibit.
