San Francisco's Magic Theater runs out of money

SAN FRANCISCO

The theater needs to raise $350,000 by next week to avoid canceling the remainder of its 43rd season.

The magic is nationally known for developing new works and artists like Pulitzer Prize-winner Sam Shepard.

It's also played host to big name stars like Sean Penn and Ed Harris.

Three major Bay Area theaters have either closed or been on the brink of closing in the last month.
