Showdown between 3M and Berkeley library

A showdown is brewing in Berkeley between anti-nuclear activists and the city's library.

The library is about to sign a $63,000 contract for 3M corporation to maintain some of its electronic equipment. But, 3M - a huge multi-national corporation - has refused to sign the city's nuclear free disclosure form.

The city's peace and justice commission will not ok the contract and will not issue 3M a waiver.

The commission says the library needs to find a company that complies with the city's nuclear free act.
