Board to discuss Novato school cuts

February 10, 2009 8:31:43 AM PST
Members of Novato Unified School District Board will meet on Tuesday night for the first public discussion of how to close a projected budget deficit of over $3 million.

Among the things being considered - closing a middle school, laying off 60 teachers and possibly eliminating sports programs across the district.

School officials won't know how much state funding they will lose, until Governor Schwarzenegger and the legislature agree on a solution to California's $42 billion deficit.

The meeting starts at 5 pm at the Novato Education Center.
