The collision occurred at a railroad crossing near Chesley Avenue at about 6:10 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates the driver may have driven around the crossing gate arm and parked on the tracks, Richmond Police Lt. Mark Gagan said. He said it initially appears the act was a suicide.

Richmond officers were at the scene conducting an investigation at 7:15 a.m., Gagan said.
