Insurance rates could increase in Vallejo

Insurance rates in Vallejo could be going up after the financially troubled city closed fire stations to save money.

Vallejo closed two fire stations last year, but the company that rates cities' insurability risk only discovered that fact recently.

Now, the company could potentially lower the city's fire response rating, subjecting residents to higher fire insurance premiums.

City officials are considering this new information, as they decide in the next week whether to close a third fire station.
