Oakland art school hosts familiar guest

"Sean... I don't have to say anything more this man breaks the mold too," said California Attorney General Jerry Brown.

Oscar winner Sean Penn joined Attorney General Brown on stage, but they were outshone by School for the Arts students showcasing their talents.

"With young people like these performers, tonight this is the time when we either encourage and nurture it the grandeur of their imagination or we give it up in some way," said Penn.

The Oakland School for the Arts has approximately 500 students enrolled in middle and high school. Just last month it was named a California distinguished school.
