Olympian enters Bay to Breakers

Olympic bronze medalist Deena Kastor is set to compete in the ING Bay to Breakers 12K on May 17, 2009. This will be Kastor's first race since breaking her foot while competing in the Beijing Summer Olympics.

Kastor won her bronze medal in the marathon at the 2004 Olympic Games. She has also won 20 national titles and holds eight national records; she currently holds the American record in the 12K.

Kastor will face a field of elite runners at this year's Bay to Breakers, including the defending champion Lineth Chepkurui of Kenya and her Beijing Olympic teammate and Oakland native, Magdalena Lewy-Boulet.
