Survey: Californians willing to conserve water

  • 79 percent said they would be likely to comply with a 15 percent reduction in water use this summer.
  • 64 percent said they would be motivated by environmental concerns.
  • 60 percent said they would do it to save money.
  • 45 percent said they would do it at the request of their local government.

    The same survey shows:

  • 58 percent have been saving water or energy since the stock market crash last fall.

  • 45 percent report "driving fewer miles" in their cars.

  • 37 percent say they are buying green products more often, since the downturn.
