Police said several thousand dollars' worth of property was damaged with graffiti over the past month, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

Gang-related symbols and slogans were painted, drawn and etched into cars, houses and apartment complexes throughout the Bennett Valley area, police said.

After receiving a tip from a neighborhood watch group, police detectives detained the 13-year-old Santa Rosa boy for questioning.

Officers recovered evidence linking the boy to a majority of the graffiti, and arrested him on charges of felony vandalism, police said. He was later released him to his parents.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department's Property Crimes Investigation Team at (707) 543-3575.
