Princess Chelsea, a Chinese Crested, winner of Animal Planet's Ugliest Dog in the World contest, will be at a book launch for author Hillary Homzie's tween novel, "Things are Gonna Get Ugly."

Devotees of the novel are expected to dress in their ugliest best for Princess Chelsea's appearance between 2 and 4 p.m.

The Simon & Schuster novel is about a popular 13-year-old girl who learns the true meaning of beauty when she is transformed into a nerd.

"Beauty definitely comes from within and Princess Chelsea is an example of that," Homzie said in a news release.

The Ugliest Dog in the World is owned by Rob and Becky Rond of Fairfield. Princess Chelsea had tumors removed from her legs and is blind in both eyes.

Her owners said Princess Chelsea is very loving and is oblivious to her celerity but enjoys being carried around like the princess that she is.

She has appeared on the Rachel Ray and David Letterman television shows and has been photographed by Life Magazine.

The book launch is open to the public and will feature ugly refreshments and treats and an ugly contest.

Copperfield's Books is located at 3900 Bel Aire Plaza, Suite A.
