Antioch police convince man to surrender

Officers responded to the Worth Shaw apartment complex at 801 James Donlon Blvd. at about 7:20 p.m., where an suicidal man had been reported in a vehicle in the parking lot, according to the Antioch Police Department.

A police negotiator was called in to talk to a 58-year-old Bay Point man who was allegedly armed and stating he wanted police to shoot him. The man was convinced after about an hour to give up his weapon and surrender peacefully.

No one was injured in the standoff, and the man was taken to a hospital for evaluation, according to police.
