Neighbors heard multiple gunshots from inside the home in the 1800 block of Findley Drive around 1:25 a.m., said police Sgt. Daryl Sequeira.

Officers who arrived to investigate could not make contact with anybody inside the home, he said.

The Milpitas SWAT team was called out and police surrounded the residence and evacuated nearby homes, Sequeira said.

As the hours passed, police used loudspeakers, diversionary noises and other tactics. Nothing elicited a response from inside the home until around 7 a.m., when two men and a woman came out voluntarily and turned themselves in to police, Sequeira said.

Officers did a preliminary sweep of the home to make sure there were no additional people, or bodies, inside. Sequeira said at least one of the trio lives at the home but did not have more specifics.

Sequeira could not say whether police retrieved any weapons.

Investigators may return to the home to do a more in-depth search if necessary, he said.

All three are being detained and questioned by Milpitas investigators. Nobody has been charged with any crimes, according to Sequeira, and it's not clear whether any laws were broken.
