CPSC to impose new fines on lead toys

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is about to impose tough new rules and big fat fines on manufacturers of toys containing lead.

A new law bans all lead in toys for children under 12, except in very, very small amounts.

And starting next month the government can slap a $15 million fine for violations.

That fine is almost eight times higher than the current maximum fine for too much lead in toys.
