Pigeon missing for years found in Bay Area

POINT RICHMOND, CA

A Point Richmond woman saw it on her deck recently and noticed it had a blue band around its leg. It identified the bird's owner as the Wichita Pigeon Club and it turns out the bird has been missing from there since 2005.

The bird's been on a journey that's lasted four years and some 1,400 miles.

"No one knows what the bird has been doing since 2005 and now to get to the west coast the bird would have had to cross the Rocky Mountains, go through Utah, Albuquerque, etc," said

This pigeon is considered a thoroughbred in the pigeon world.

It'll be taken in by a Fremont club, but the bird will never race again. Instead, it will most likely spend the rest of its life as a breeding pigeon.
