Mental health services cut in Marin County

MARIN COUNTY, CA

County officials say the services will end because the state cut $650,000 in funding it provides to the county's mental health division. The move also eliminates the county's ability to get matching federal funds.

The division's director says the cuts are forcing seriously mentally ill patients to drop out of treatment. In 2007, more than 2,000 people got mental health care through Medi-Cal in Marin County.
