Merchants at the Orinda Farmer's Market are raising money to help the families of two window washers whose cherry picker touched a power line last month.

The accident killed 51-year-old Jose Herrera and badly burned 30-year-old Eduardo Guerra who remains hospitalized.

The men were working near the farmer's market on June 5 when merchants heard an explosion and saw the lift catch fire with the men still inside.

The market's manager says they have raised $5,000 so far.
