Elderly man attacked, bound in home robbery

The robbery was reported at about 3:30 p.m. at a single-story house in the 3100 block of Morris Avenue, Brown said.

The victim answered a knock on his door and was confronted by three men, Brown said. One of them hit the victim in the face and then bound his wrists while the others ransacked the home, she said.

A while later, the victim's wife arrived home, found her husband and called police, Brown said.

Officers searched the neighborhood with a police dog but were unable to locate the suspects. They also searched the home but could not determine what had been taken.

The victim was taken to a hospital and treated for a bloody nose. He was released that night, she said.

Two of the suspects were described as Hispanic men between 20 and 25 years old, wearing blue sweatshirts. One was heavyset and the other was muscular, Brown said.

The victim was unable to give a description of the third suspect.

He said he saw one of the suspects carrying a semi-automatic firearm.

Brown said a similar home invasion robbery occurred in Menlo Park last month. Detectives are working with the Menlo Park, East Palo Alto, Mountain View and Los Altos police departments to determine whether any crimes in those cities may be related to this case.

Anyone with information about the home invasion robbery is asked to call police dispatch at (650) 329-2413.
