Repeat DUI offender arrested again

PETALUMA, CA

An off-duty Santa Rosa police officer alerted Petaluma police at 6:11 p.m. Sunday that he was following a possible drunken driver north on Lakeville Highway into Petaluma, police said.

The officer reported that the car had drifted into oncoming traffic and onto the shoulder several times. When the vehicle entered Petaluma city limits, Petaluma police pulled it over.

The driver was identified as Teresa Simpson, a 28-year-old Rohnert Park resident, police said.

Simpson failed field sobriety tests, and a breath test showed she had a blood-alcohol content of .17 percent, more than twice the legal limit, police said.

Because Simpson has been convicted of three DUI violations in the past 10 years, Sunday's DUI arrest carried felony charges, police said.

Simpson was booked into Sonoma County Jail on $30,000 bail, police said.
