3.3-magnitude quake strikes east of San Jose

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.3 shook Santa Clara County this morning.

According to the USGS, at 6:28 a.m. the quake rattled an area north of Henry W. Coe State Park in the foothills about 20 miles east of San Jose.

The tremor had a depth of 3.8 miles, and is the third and largest quake in the region in the past nine hours, according to the USGS.
